Luna & Nettles’
Nature Faces
It’s a lot of fun to draw funny faces but have you ever tried making them using items found in nature? This is a great way to pass a sunny afternoon outside!
What You Will Need…
- Natural materials (whatever inspires you: grass, leaves, twigs, pebbles, flowers, etc.)
- Something to carry materials (optional)
- Pavement chalk (optional)
1.
Go outside & gather your materials. Be thinking about the kind of faces you’ll be making, and what features they have. For instance, if you’re making a self-portrait you might want a bendy stick for a smiley mouth, or long wavy grass for hair?’
Fairy Tip! Use a basket or bag to carry them.
2.
Spread out your collection on the ground to examine what you’ve gathered. It might help to sort the items into piles.
3.
Find a clear spot nearby to start creating faces! If you have pavement chalk, use that to make a circle on the ground to add features to. Make as many faces as you want – there’s no limit to your imagination! Choose two eyes, one nose, & two ears for your person, or how about three eyes, two noses, & no ears? Now that’s silly!
