Suncatcher

Channel the sunshine with this DIY suncatcher! This is a great way to bring a little bit of the outdoors, indoors!

What You Will Need…

  • Flowers & Leaves (for decorating)
  • Transparent Contact Paper (or transparent tape – packing tape works best)
  • Paper Plates
  • Scissors
  • Ribbon (or any sort of string)
  • Hole Punch

1.

Go outside and gather natural materials like leaves and flowers.

Fairy Tip! Use a basket or bag to carry them.

2.

Spread out the nature materials on your workspace. Choose which pieces you want to include in the suncatcher.

3.

Have a grown up cut out the centre of the paper plate to make the suncatcher frame.

Then, use the cut out centre to measure the amount of sticky contact paper needed.

You’ll want a circle that is a little bit bigger than the centre of the plate, so the edges of the paper will stick.

4.

Place the contact paper under the plate so the sticky side faces up.

If you’re using tape, tape over the back of the paper plate frame across the open middle of the plate so that the sticky side faces up when the plate is set down.

5.

Stick your nature elements to the sticky surface in whichever pattern you want.

6.

Ask an adult to punch a hole in the top of the plate frame and tie a ribbon around it to make a loop.

Then, add another piece of contact paper (or more tape) to the front of the collage (sticky side down) to keep the design in and to cover the stickiness.
